Can anyone recommend the best path to take to the summit of Snowdon that does not have any sheer drops. I heard that although the Llanberris Path is relatively easy, it has a narrow ridge with drops on both sides towards the top. (One of the group who is going to walk with us has a fear of heights).

The Llanberis Path is the most straightforward but you still need to be very careful as there are several points where if you fell you wouldnt stop for a vey long time. The conditions are not suitable at the moment for non-mountaineers and you do need all the winter gear including crampons.
There have been a spate of accidents in the last week with ill prepared groups goung up the mountain.

Did the Llanberis path yesterday. Very cold on the way up as we started at 7.30 did it in 3 hours and some of us are far from fit. No need for crampons, where the ice was simply walked around it. But conditions can change very quickly. If one of you is afraid of heights this is your best bet.

Hi
I have just returned from climbing Snowdon twice in two days. I would not reccomend climbing it if you're afraid of heights. I went via the Watkins path with my youngest Son who is 13 and my oldest son who is 26, we were almost to the top when my oldest son had a panic attack, so we had to come back down.
I thought the lanberis path would be ok so we tried that the next day.
There is a bit fairly near the top where you go under the second bridge and turn a corner, blow me, my son panicked again. Me and my youngest Son carried on to the summit on our own while my oldest son went back down and waited for us ha ha. I'm going to print a certificate for him "Nearly made it twice". Even after all this, if your friend is affraid of heights, why dont you get them to go as far up the Lanberis path as they can and then go back to the half way cafe and wait for you to come back down.
