hi all,
i climbed snowdon for the first time via the PYG track on 6th october 07 with 3 friends. it was a wonderful experience, very warm day, sunny, not a breath of wind. I absolutely loved it. I am accending via the WATKIN path at the end of feb, and i was wondering if anyone would be able to give me there opinion and views. various websites have slightly confused me as say easy, some say tough..
i am looking for a slightly tougher challenge. i.e. a bit more easy scambling.
with good views and stuff.

many thanx
gary

Gary,

Go up the Watkin path and once it levels out past Gladstone rock and the old mine buildings, taken a diagonal line left up the hill side towards a col at grid 605/522, Bwlch Cwm Llan, if you look on a 1:25 000 map there is a green dotted path to this point off the Watkin path which you can also use to get to the col.
Once at the col head north, go right! and up over the south ridge to the top of Snowdon, a great route.
From the summit then come down the Watkin path direct.

This is a good variant to the route, not many people go up the south ridge, can be blowey so check the weather before hand.

Big mountain country so ensure you are equipped, weather can change at any time, let people know where you are going.

If you want to go in March sometime, weather permitting let me know, if i am free and the weather will be semi decent, will go with you.
