My son and I decided to have a go at the Pyg trail. I have never been up Snowdon before but he had earlier this year used the Llanberis trail. The Pyg was a lot harder than I expected from reading various contradictory comments on the trail from different web sites. The ice of course didn't help nor did the size of the rocks and boulders on the path. I didn't expect a nice tarmac path of course!
We left the car park at 10.15am. It took us 7 hours including a lunch break and many stops for photo shoots. It was of course well worth the aching knee and hip joints. The summit was wonderful Clear blue sky and looking down on the clouds.
We only just made it back to the car park before it became unsafe in the dark.
Was 7 hours too long for this first try?
